Mission &Values

MISSION: To provide a safe and stimulating environment for all dogs and ensure both their physical and mental requirements are met whilst in our care.
VALUES: At Doggy Pause we believe, above all else, our business should be based on respect: Respect for the dogs we watch, Respect for the people we work with & Respect for the customers we serve.

Pause Promise:

We are so committed to our services that we offer you our "Pause Promise". You must be totally happy with our service at all times. If we fail to meet your standards, just let us know and we will give you a discount/credit of the value of the last stay on your next booking to make it up.

Dog Boarding

Doggy Pause is not your average dog boarding establishment. Our look and feel is somewhat different to other establishments and the dogs which we care for are all dog social and friendly. We try to give your dog an experience, not just a place to stay.

Our facility is purpose built, family owned and operated with a maximum daily dog intake of 30 dogs. All dogs get outside and inside play each day for 10 hours minimum and are matched according to temperament, size and energy level with plenty of human contact in the form of cuddles and treats and topped off with wholesome, nutritional breakfasts and dinners.

Typical Dogs Day

  • 7.00am: Dogs let outside to do 'their business'
  • 7.15am: Breakfast starts
  • 7.30am - 12.00pm: Dogs play outside together
  • 12.00pm - 1.00pm: Quiet Time
  • 1.00pm - 6.00pm: Dogs play outside together
  • 6.00pm - 7.00pm: Dinner starts and dogs get put to bed

Dog Games/Activities

Not all dogs are the same, each have their favourite game, their own personality, individual energy levels, likes and dislikes. We cater for the individual dog, so if your dog is older and less energetic we will sit with it and brush it and pet it and if it is more energetic we will run with it, if it likes water we will put the sprinklers on, if it likes to chase balls we will throw for it and if it likes to just lie in the sun by itself, we will leave it to be.

Every minute of every day that a dog is outside it will be with a dog minder: either playing with it and the group or standing and observing to ensure all is at peace in the pack. The only time a dog or a pack of dogs is left without a physical dog minder is at bedtime and to ensure that all is well throughout the night we have audio/visual surveillance throughout the sleeping quarters which stream directly to the main computer: Just like big brother.

Food

Doggy Pause does not use canned dog food because of the general additives, colouring and preservatives used to manufacture them. We prefer to feed our dogs chicken, mince, tuna or sardines mixed with boiled rice and some boiled vegetables and non preservative or additive dog biscuits. Our treats are usually liver treats as they are natural.

Dog Boarding (Long-Term)

Because of the environment of which Doggy Pause is set up, being on a large bit of land and it being private property which we actually live on we are able to cater for long term dogs with ease (long term is considered 2 months or more). The difference between long term and short term boarding is not just the duration, it is the interaction with us, our daily life and extra activities. Aside from long term dogs socialising with short term dogs on a daily basis the additional activities that they are involved with are:

  • A morning or afternoon walk around the property on a lead (takes about 45 minutes) and allows them to be solo with us for that bit of extra sniffing stimulation and human contact
  • 1 night each week they get to stay in the house with us and hang out and get after dinner treat
  • Complimentary wash and blow dry
  • Complimentary transport: Hornsby - Kulnura - Hornsby
  • Report card and photos once a month direct to your email

Luxury Stay

For those owners that want their dog to have that little bit of extra special attention and care we offer the luxury stay. The luxury stay is only available for one dog at any one time, or two dogs if it is from the same family (a pair). The luxury stay gives the following extras:

  • Each nights stay is within our own home, in their own bedroom which consists of a large sofa with tons of fluffy blankets
  • Before bedtime, there is a spot on the sofa, next to our dog, to relax on, cuddle with us and be part of our family evening
  • Extra treats
  • Morning walk before the other dogs are let out for daytime play
  • Rest times exclusively within our own home, during the day
  • Complimentary wash and blow dry

Obedience Training

Does your dog pull on its lead, does it scare with loud noises, does it need to learn to sit, come and stay? Why not give your dog a holiday with an added bonus of some obedience training. Our resident dog trainer, Jenny offers a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BScAgr), 18 years experience as a Club Instructor at Metropolitan Midweek Dog Training Club (with 10 of those years as Deputy Chief Instructor), Qualified Dogs NSW Obedience Instructor, a member of Dogs NSW and a member of APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) Aust and of course a fellow dog owner herself.
